Newspaper Ad showing Got Knee PainFraudulent billing for Durable Medical Equipment is a huge ongoing problem for Medicare.  A large ad appearing in the 7/28/15 edition of the the Del Norte Triplicate is an example of how Medicare beneficiaries can be encouraged to give out their personal Medicare information without realizing it will be used to bill Medicare fraudulently.  By responding to ads and mailings to bill Medicare for braces etc. promising free medical equipment, Medicare beneficiaries are at high risk of not receiving what is billed in their name as well, or receiving something less than what was billed.  Durable Medical Equipment requests should be made through your own doctor, who will write a prescription for exactly what is needed for your individual needs, and filled with a legitimate medical equipment supplier.
