Established in 1980, the Area 1 Agency on Aging (A1AA) advocates, plans, coordinates, develops, and delivers a range of senior, information, volunteer and caregiver services in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties.

Our Mission:

To provide leadership and guidance in supporting an older person?s ability to lead a dignified, safe, healthy and independent life and to provide leadership and resources that support volunteers as they make positive changes in our community.

While the majority of those we serve are considered "senior", many of our services are open to a variety of ages. As a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation, the A1AA is governed by a 12-member Board of Directors. Click here to learn of our Agency's history.

The A1AA works to bring new funding sources to the community through grant writing and fundraising. The Agency, its staff and providers take active roles in influencing policies and regulations for the best interests of local elders. Agency staff readily provide a range of information at support groups, health fairs, professional organizations and other community groups.
