The A1AA's Board of Directors serves as the Agency's governing body. Each year the 12 member Board reviews and approves the annual budget, determines progress on the Strategic Plan, targets service funding and sets policy for the Agency through the following committees: Finance & Audit, Contract Review, Personnel, Building, and Membership. Board meetings are held monthly.

The Board is assisted in their duties by two Advisory Councils: the A1AA Advisory Council and the Volunteer Center of the Redwoods Advisory Council.
