A1AA Information and Assistance Program provides services to older adults and family caregivers in Humboldt and Del Norte counties. By providing older adults and caregivers with a single information and assistance (I&A) access point, we make it easy to find expert information and connections to critical services that older adults and caregivers need. I&A Specialists can help older adults be heard by assisting to communicate with decision-makers at all levels of government about issues, legislation, regulations, proposals and policies that affect their lives.
We provide free Medicare consultation to adults, family caregivers and service providers through our Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP). Maintained by registered and trained staff members and volunteers, this critical program provides objective information and problem resolution about Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, supplemental plans such as Medigap, prescription drug plans, government assistance programs, and long-term care insurance.
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program investigates and endeavors to resolve elder abuse complaints made by, or on behalf of, individual residents in long-term care facilities.
