Volunteer Advocates
There are many ways that you can join the Project for Senior Action to build our local movement that advocates for older adults and families as we age in our communities with dignity and support, depending on your interests and available time:
Home-based Volunteer Advocate: Join our contact list of folks willing to make a call, write a letter or send an email when an important issue effecting seniors needs your voice. Signing up for our list does not commit you to any action -- you decide based on your own interest after you hear about issues. Contact PSA today and let us know how best to contact you and what topics are of your highest concern.
Action Campaign Volunteer: Is there a local concern that you are passionate about? The Project for Senior Action can help you determine who to contact and how you can be most effective in moving your concern forward. We may know of others with similar concerns who would like to join you on this issue. Contact us to arrange a time to talk.
Senior Action Coalition: Beginning in March of 2012, the Project for Senior Action is bringing together a grass-roots collaboration of older adults who wish to work together and take action in ways that will strengthen the voice of seniors in community decisions. To learn more about joining this coalition please click here: Senior Action Coalition
In-office Volunteer: We have many opportunities for folks to help us with short-term projects including sending out mailings and making calls to Home-based Volunteer Advocates regarding current issues. We can schedule flexible hours based on your availability. Contact us to volunteer.
A1AA Advisory Council: One of the mandates for the Area 1 Agency on Aging Advisory Council is to represent the interest of older persons and in particular, review and comment on community policies, programs and actions which affect older persons. This includes advocacy regarding legislation or local programs.
- Attend a Meeting: Meetings are open to the public & include a public comment time.
- Become a Sub-committee Member: Current sub-committees include transportation, housing and health care. There is an application process for non-council members.
- Become a Member: after applying and being accepted to the Advisory Council, members participate and vote in monthly meetings and carry out all duties described in Advisory Council Manual.

North Coast Long-Term Services and Support Coalition
Dementia Care Coalition: A group of community members, medical providers, local agencies and business owners that meet every other month and work to create a dementia competent society through education, advocacy and outreach. The Dementia Care Coalition achieves this through their Speaker's Bureau and providing periodic training opportunities for family caregivers and professionals in our community.
