Episcopal Senior Communities award-winning Senior Center Without Walls is an innovative program that provides free group activities through telephone conference calls for homebound elders throughout California. For those who find it difficult to go to a community senior center, Senior Center Without Walls offers free activities, friendly conversation and an assortment of classes and support groups to adults aged 60+.
Here's how it works:
1. A schedule of upcoming classes and groups is distributed to prospective participants.
2. Participants register for the session either by telephone or by mail.
3. Participants are mailed the conference call number and code numbers to connect them to the chosen classes at the scheduled times. No charge is added to their phone bills.
Sessions run throughout the year and participants can join at any time. Among the approximately 60 groups offered each week are:
- Writing Workshop
- Pet Tales
- Decluttering Challenges
- Health Presentations
- In the News
- Low Vision Support
- Brain Aerobics
- World Music
Volunteers are needed to facilitate group sessions, check in by phone with participants, and assist in the office. For more information, call: 1-877-797-7299 (toll free) or visit us on the web @ http://www.seniorcenterwithoutwalls.org
