Legal Assistance – Legal Services of Northern California (LSNC)
Area 1 Agency on Aging contracts with Legal Services of Northern California to provide free legal assistance in priority areas of law to adults age 60 and older living in Humboldt/Del Norte Counties. Priority is given to serving clients with the greatest social and economic needs characterized by:
- Low income
- Impairment affecting physical, mental or social status
- Language or communication barrier
- Living alone
- Minority
- Age 75+
- Institutionalized or at risk of institutionalization
The priority areas of law include:
- Eligibility for public benefits
- Housing/tenant rights
- Elder Abuse
- Health insurance (Medi-Cal and Covered California)
- Simple Wills, Advanced Health Care Directives
- Consumer/financial rights
LSNC provides monthly law clinics to address legal issues throughout Humboldt and Del Norte Counties, including tribal entities.
